Wildflower meadows (Cambridgeshire) / Biodiversity and rewilding

We absolutely love meadows - of all shapes, types, and sizes! The UK has lost a staggering 97% of its meadows since the Second World War, which is a tragedy as they are fabulous for insects, birds, and other wildlife - plus being surprisingly low maintenance. We’ve created wildflower patches of a few square feet up to field size, both for private clients and in public spaces - together with volunteer group ‘On the Verge Ely’ I created a number of wildflower patches on underutilised spaces in towns and villages in the Cambridgeshire area.

We’ve experimented with a variety of methods of meadow creation and conversion in different situations and habitats, and are always delighted to talk to clients about bringing wildflowers or meadows into their gardens. We can advise on approaches depending on soil type, aspect, preferred timescale, and budget. If you’d like to see particular butterfly species or wish to have a meadow dominated by a certain colour palette - been there, done that, and happy to advise - whatever the size of the patch you have!
