Design ethos
Beautiful – Useful – Biodiverse
Of course, gardens should be beautiful. But they can be much more too, providing biodiverse havens for wildlife, places for us to reconnect with nature, and refuges filled with scents and tastes to bring to our tables. The times we live in call for such gardens more than ever, since both humans and other creatures need sanctuary from the busy modern world.
Aside from our passion for wildlife friendly, sustainable gardens, we also specialise in edimentals. These are perennial plants that are both edible and ornamental, and they’re a brilliant way to reconnect with nature in a visceral sense – by eating it!
Sustainable
Sustainability is at the heart of our designs. We specify plants that are climate adapted and suited to individual garden microclimates. This cuts down on watering or extra care, leading to long-lived and less resource-dependent gardens. Wherever possible we use local, ethical or renewable materials, including reusing on-site materials wherever practical.
Designed
Many fabulous gardens were created over time with no master plan. However, by starting with a design you are ensured a space that is immediately striking, cohesive, and fluid - and filled with plants that will last the course!
We develop our brief by drawing on your needs alongside considering site conditions (light, soil, aspect, the sense of place, and more). We love creatively reimagining space, often surprising clients when we discuss initial plans. Our designs have strong year-round interest, creating gardens that have something to offer to humans and wildlife alike in every month of the year.
